Justice Seen, Justice Done in Blackburn

Blackburn residents have had their say. As part of the Justice Seen, Justice Done competition that gave them a say on the work offenders should carry out on Community Payback., Olive Lane was voted the area Blackburn wanted to see cleaned up.
A victim of severe antisocial behaviour, Olive Lane required a complete overhaul. Lancashire Probation Trust responded, sending offenders on Community Payback to the site.
Blackburn is one of 54 Neighbourhood Crime & Justice Pioneer Areas in which the public were able to vote earlier this year on which schemes offenders should carry out as part of their punishment.
The group of six offenders in high visibility orange jackets worked to scrub away graffiti and clear the area of litter. And with their hard work and the support of the local community the Olive Lane was left spotless.
Local residents and the offenders alike felt positively about the work and Lyn Hall, the local practice manager for community payback said: “There was a real sense of community on this project. Everyone came together to make this happen – it was definitely a combined effort.”
